  1. Clifton Suspension Bridge
    The Clifton Suspension Bridge, spanning the Avon Gorge, is the instantly recognisable symbol of the city of Bristol. For almost 150 years this Grade I listed structure has attracted visitors from all over the world. Its story began in 1754 with the dream of a Bristol wine merchant who left a legacy to build a bridge over the Gorge and became reality in 1830 when a young Isambard Kingdom Brunel won his first major commission and was appointed project engineer at the age of 24.

    • Open daily from 9am to 5.30pm in peak season, closing at 5.00pm off-peak.
    • Closed Christmas Day.
    • Last entrance to animal houses is half an hour before closing.
    • Last entrance to the Zoo is an hour before closing.
    • Free entry for under 3's - baby changing and feeding facilities available.
    • The Pelican Restaurant serves hot meals and snacks and has a covered picnic area.
    • Discounts for groups.
    • Shop for gifts and souvenirs.

    Now open first Sunday of the month 10am-3pm on 6 August and 3 September

    The "Nails" craft market every Friday and Saturday. 10.00 - 5.00
    Bristol Farmers Market: Every Wednesday. 9.30 - 2.30
    The Slow Food Market: The first Sunday of every month. 10.00 - 3.00
  10. International Balloon Fiesta August 7th to 10th 2008
    Features mass balloon ascents at 6am Friday to Sunday and 6pm Thursday to Sunday plus the amazing night glows on Thursday the 7th and Saturday the 9th at 9.30pm
